Hi All, the next Rockin' at The YPC (12) "The Re-Union for The Teenagers of The 60s" a fundraiser for Stand Up To Cancer/Cancer Research UK, will be held on Saturday 21st July 2017, at The Civic Hall, Southport Road, Ormskirk, doors 7:30pm, show starts at 8pm, tickets are £10 and are available from Monday 1st May from Ormskirk Civic Hall tel; 01695 576607. web; http://www.ormskirkcivichall.co.uk/ There is no admission after 9pm. Appearing will be Shooter, Beats Workin' and resident YPC bands The Blue Chips and The Rebels. Further information to follow. Rockin' at The YPC

Ormskirk Young Peoples Club, affectionately known as The YPC, was situated in Burscough Street, Ormskirk, UK. Access was gained via the coaching entry opposite the Buck th’ Vine Inn, The YPC was a converted warehouse. The building had two floors, downstairs was the office and the games room, where you could play snooker, table tennis and darts. Upstairs on the right was the coffee bar and toilets and to the left the dance hall. The coffee bar housed the obligatory Dansette record player from which the hit music of the time was transmitted to an extension speaker in the dance hall. The dance hall had a stage built over two snooker tables, this was lit by two red and a central yellow light bulb. Around the walls were further various coloured light bulbs and rows of fold up chairs.
While having local resident bands; Ian and The Rebels, The Sinners and later The Blue Chips, The YPC paid host to many of the top Mersey Beat bands of the day. Provided by Liverpool impresario Dave Forshaw the bands included; Billy Butler and The Tuxedos, Ricky Gleason and The Topspots, The Lee Eddie Five,

J. J. and The Hi-Lites, The Pawns, The Mersey Gonks and from London; Screaming Lord Sutch and The Savages.
On those Friday or Saturday nights, The YPC had an atmosphere to match any of the venues of the area such as, Liverpool’s Cavern, The Orrell Park Ballroom and Southport’s Klic Klic and Marine View Clubs.
The Young Peoples Club was a haven for the teenagers of the day, unique in its own way; many a relationship was struck up on those heady evenings, long lasting memories still echo in the minds of Ormskirk’s; “Teenagers of the 60’s”.
